Adams caught 7 of 13 targets for 137 yards and four first downs, including a 49-yarder from the Los Angeles 9 with 7:03 left that put the Rams at the Denver 42, up 19–16. His 13 targets led the team, and the last throw of the game, deep right from the Denver 19 with two seconds left, was intended for him and intercepted, in a 30–26 loss to the Broncos.

19 to 16, Rams, seven oh three left in the fourth quarter, first and 10 at the Los Angeles nine after a Denver punt. Matthew Stafford threw short middle to Davante Adams, seven yards past the line, and Adams ran out of bounds at the Denver 42 after 49. +3.1 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 10.9 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. By expected points it was the Rams' second-biggest play of the night, and 42 of the 49 yards came after the catch. Two Blake Corum carries later, on third and six, Talanoa Hufanga returned an interception 66 yards for the touchdown that put Denver ahead.
The line: 13 targets, seven catches, a hundred 37 yards, four first downs, no touchdown, +5.0 expected points on the targets, 227 air yards. The catches went 22, 22, 13, 14, six, 11 49. The 13 and the 14 came in the last 45 seconds of the half, on the drive that ended in Harrison Mevis's 40-yard field goal and a 16 to nothing lead. Five targets before halftime for 71 yards, eight after for 66. Of the six throws that missed, three came in the last 40 seconds, down 30 to 26, and the last was second and 15 from the 19 with two seconds left, deep right, intercepted by Hufanga in the end zone. Three throws his way traveled 20 or more yards in the air and none was caught. One more catch, 16 yards to the Denver four in the second quarter, came back on offensive pass interference called on Adams, and that drive ended in a field goal.
13 targets led the Rams, a quarter of Stafford's 53 throws not counting two spikes; Higbee had 11, Konata Mumpfield eight, Kyren Williams seven. His hundred 37 yards led the game — Mumpfield was next with 93 — and were second among all pass catchers this week to Drake London's hundred 94, with 30 of the 32 teams having played. Puka Nacua was inactive for a second straight game, with a groin injury, per NBC Sports.
Back in June the preview's read on Adams was that his big season had been built on 14 touchdowns rather than on volume — 60 catches, 789 yards, scores from one to 10 yards out — and that touchdown rate is the least repeatable thing a receiver does. Week One in Melbourne was six targets, three catches and 26 yards. Week Two against the Giants was eight catches for a hundred 95 two touchdowns. Sunday was the Week Two shape without the scores: the most targets he has had this season and a second straight game over a hundred yards. Three games: 29 targets, 18 catches, 358 yards, two touchdowns. So far it is a yardage season, the opposite of the one the preview worried about, and two of the three games came with Nacua out. Los Angeles is at the Eagles on Sunday the fourth.
