Johnson caught his one target for 10 yards and a first down in the third quarter and did not carry the ball, while Kenneth Walker took 22 of the Chiefs' 25 rush plays. He returned two kickoffs for 49 yards, in a 30–27 win over the Raiders.

13 to 10, Raiders, 10 25 left in the third quarter, first and 10 at the Kansas City 32. Patrick Mahomes threw short right to Emmett Johnson six yards behind the line, and Johnson ran 16 yards after the catch to the Kansas City 42, a first down. +0.5 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. Two snaps later Mahomes was sacked, and the Chiefs punted.
The line: no carries, one target, one catch, 10 yards, one first down. He also returned the first two Las Vegas kickoffs, 25 24 yards. Kenneth Walker had 22 of the Chiefs' 25 rush plays.
Back in June the preview called Johnson a claim on a role that did not exist yet, with passing-down work and the return game as the quiet path. Sunday was his first game without a carry. Four games: 16 carries, 56 yards, five catches on five targets for 74, and four kickoff returns for a hundred 14 yards.
