12 to three, Vikings, 47 seconds left in the third quarter, second and one at the Minnesota 29. Malik Willis threw deep left to Malik Washington, 16 yards in the air, and Washington ran out of bounds at the Minnesota 12. 17 yards, +0.9 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 6.1 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. Two snaps earlier he had caught a 17-yarder deep right from the Miami 45. On the next snap Ollie Gordon ran it in from 12, and it was 12 to 10.
The line: five targets, five catches, 67 yards, two first downs, +3.6 expected points on the targets, 30 of the yards after the catch. The other three were 16 on second and 20, 11 on second and 18, and six; the first two came up short of the sticks. Two carries for three yards, one a no-gain run at the Minnesota nine before Miami's field goal.
Five of the 17 Miami throws went to him, 29 percent, the most on the team; Kevin Coleman Jr. had four and Chris Bell three.
Back in June the preview called Washington a watchlist, the one returning Miami wideout who had earned targets, a 14 percent share a year ago, with a vacancy above him. He has been first or second on the team in targets every week. Four games: 28 targets, 17 catches, 219 yards. Sunday was the fewest throws Miami has made, and his first game without an incompletion.
