Against the Rams, Saquon Barkley touched the ball three times in the first four minutes, and that was all. Nothing to nothing, 11 48 left in the first quarter, first and 10 at the Los Angeles 28 after Mukuba's interception return: Barkley went around left end for six and fumbled, and the ball went out of bounds at the 22, so Philadelphia kept it. The play-by-play marks him injured on that run. He did not touch the ball again.

The line: two carries, eight yards, one catch for two, no first downs. Tank Bigsby took 14 carries and Will Shipley six.

Back in June the preview leaned against a bounce-back: volume real, efficiency ordinary. Through four games it is 36 carries, a hundred 82 yards, no touchdowns and four catches for eight yards, with 15 carries in two of the games and four or fewer in the other two.
