Blake Corum won the start of the second half against the Chargers: 11 carries, 73 yards, a touchdown and +2.1 expected points added (EPA), in the Rams' 24-9 win at home. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. His one target fell incomplete.
Up 10-9 on the opening drive of the third, he ran for 5 and 6, then 13 on first and 15 after a false start and 8 on second and 2. From first and 10 at the Chargers 23 he went straight up the middle for the touchdown, +2.1 EPA and 8.3 points of win probability, the estimate of each side's chance to win, for 17-9. That was 55 yards on five carries in a 74-yard drive. His other six carries gained 18.
It was his second straight efficient game. He was at +0.19 EPA a carry here and +0.40 against the Raiders in Week 7, against +0.14 through Week 7: 64 carries, 316 yards, 2 touchdowns and +8.7 EPA, with 53.1% of carries successful.
