Daniel Jones threw for his most yards of the season against the Titans and still came up short: 22 of 42, 269 yards, 1 touchdown, 2 interceptions and 6 sacks, for -4.7 expected points added (EPA) on 50 dropbacks. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. His completion percentage over expected (CPOE), how often his passes were caught against what their difficulty predicts, was -8.0.

The last two minutes decided it. Down 23-20 with 1:45 left, third and 10 at the Indianapolis 38, Jermaine Johnson II sacked him for -7 yards, -11.7 points of win probability. On fourth and 17 at the 31, 1:07 left, his deep pass over the middle to Laquon Treadwell fell incomplete: -3.2 EPA, -12.5 points. Down 26-20 with 43 seconds left, he found Keenan Allen for 19 yards to the Tennessee 46, then threw three straight incompletions.

Both interceptions came in Tennessee territory. Amani Hooker picked off a throw for Josh Downs at the Tennessee 6 in a scoreless first quarter, and Cordale Flott picked off one for Will Mallory at the 11 in the third, up 13-3, -4.9 EPA. The good throws were real: 36 yards to Deion Burks on third and 4 (+3.3 EPA), 38 to Jonathan Taylor (+2.9), and the 1-yard touchdown to Mo Alie-Cox.

Per dropback, it was better than his start. Through Week 5 he had -0.16 EPA per dropback and a -2.4 CPOE; this was -0.09. But 6 sacks came after 9 in his first five games.
