Drake Maye smashed the Raiders for the best game of his season: 26 of 34, 374 yards, 4 touchdown passes, no interceptions, and a 3-yard touchdown run. He was worth +29.6 expected points added (EPA) on 38 dropbacks, +0.78 per dropback. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.
The drive that broke a 7-7 tie defined his day. Late in the first quarter he converted fourth and 2 at the Las Vegas 48 with a 6-yard throw to DeMario Douglas. At the 8, after a third-down miss, he went back to Hunter Henry on fourth and 3, short over the middle, and Henry reached the 1. That was +3.5 EPA and +7.0 points of win probability, his biggest swing of the game. Rhamondre Stevenson's 5-yard touchdown run made it 14-7.
The scoring throws came around it: Douglas for 35 yards on the opening drive, Henry for 11 with 28 seconds left in the half, and Kyle Williams for 34 on second and 19 early in the third quarter, +4.1 EPA, his most valuable throw. The one blemish was an intentional grounding penalty on third and 6 at the Las Vegas 30, -2.9 EPA.
Through Week 4 he had +3.1 EPA on 142 dropbacks, +0.02 per dropback, with 4 touchdown passes and 7 interceptions. His completion percentage over expected (CPOE), how often he completed passes against what their difficulty predicted, was +22.6, after +2.3 across those games. His previous high was 269 yards, against the Bills in Week 4.
