Javonte Williams got the work against the Cardinals and little room: 24 carries for 56 yards and -9.7 expected points added (EPA), what a play was worth given down, distance and field position, or -0.40 a carry. Eight of the 24 were successful runs, meaning they gained what the situation asked for, 33.3%. He caught 1 of 2 targets for a yard.
The costliest carry was his fourth. On Dallas's first drive, tied 0-0, fourth and 1 at the Dallas 32, he was stopped up the middle for a 2-yard loss, -4.0 EPA and 11.5 points of win probability, the estimate of each side's chance to win. Late in the third, with first and goal at the 2, he lost 2 and then 1 before Dak Prescott scrambled in. In the first quarter he lost the ball at the 2, and a teammate recovered it in the end zone for the game's first score.
It was a step back from a week earlier, when he ran 25 times for 155 yards and +9.6 EPA against the Eagles. Through Week 7 he had 110 carries for 472 yards, 8 touchdowns and +11.5 EPA, +0.10 a carry, with 47.3% of them successful.
