The full read

Josh Jacobs scored twice against the Panthers on a night when the yards were hard to find: 21 carries, 39 yards, a touchdown and -3.2 expected points added (EPA), plus 6 catches on 6 targets for 13 yards and a touchdown. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. Eight of his 21 carries gained positive EPA, and none went longer than 6 yards.

Both scores came on third and 1. Down 10-6 with 6:37 left in the second quarter, five snaps after Christian Watson's 53-yard catch, he went in off right tackle from the 1, +1.3 EPA, for a 13-10 lead after the extra point. On the first drive of the third quarter, up 20-10, Jordan Love threw short over the middle from the 4 and Jacobs caught it for the touchdown, +1.4 EPA and 27-10. Up 27-19 with 2:41 left, his first two carries of the last drive gained 5 and 3; his last three, after Carolina was out of timeouts, gained -3, 0 and 1.

Per carry it matched his only other game this season. In Week 7 at Detroit he had 11 carries for 36 yards and -1.7 EPA, -0.15 a carry, the same rate as here on almost twice the work.
