Kyren Williams scored the touchdown that put the Rams ahead against the Chargers and carried the drive that ended it: 16 carries, 56 yards, a touchdown and -0.9 expected points added (EPA), plus a 3-yard catch, in a 24-9 win at home. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. Six of his 16 carries were successful plays, meaning they gained what the situation asked for.
The score came down 9-3 with 22 seconds left in the half. After Puka Nacua's catch to the 1, first and goal, he went in off right tackle, +1.3 EPA and 5.5 points of win probability, the estimate of each side's chance to win, for a 10-9 lead after the extra point. Up 24-9 with 6:39 left, the Rams took over at their 17 and he took 11 of the drive's 12 snaps for 41 yards. His 6-yarder on third and 6, +1.3 EPA, stood after a Chargers challenge, and his 2-yarder on fourth and 1 at the Chargers 38 ended the game.
The rate sat a little under his season. Through Week 7 he had 96 carries for 492 yards, 5 touchdowns and +1.1 EPA, +0.01 a carry, with 42.7% of them successful; here it was -0.06 a carry and 37.5%.
