Lloyd scored the game's first points on a 6-yard catch on second and six, then lost a fumble at the Green Bay 18 with 12:35 left in the fourth that the Jets turned into a field goal and a 17–7 lead. He carried 6 times for 20 yards and did not touch the ball after the fumble. Thirteen carries in Week 1 became six, behind Kaleb Johnson's eight, in a 20–17 overtime win over the Jets.

Nothing to nothing, nine 40 left in the second quarter, second and six at the New York six. Jordan Love threw short right to MarShawn Lloyd for the touchdown, the first points of the game. +2.0 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 3.3 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. Lloyd had carried three times on the drive already, for five, seven and two, the last two from the 15 down to the six.
The other play that defines his day came with 12 35 left in the fourth, down 14 to seven, first and 10 at the Green Bay 14. Left tackle for two yards, the ball punched out by Kingsley Enagbare and recovered by Harrison Phillips at the 18. −5.0 expected points, the worst Packers play of the game by that measure, and −7.6 points of win probability. The Jets kicked a 32-yard field goal on the possession that followed to make it 17 to seven.
The line: six carries, 20 yards, one first down, two of the six successful, one fumble lost, −5.3 expected points on the carries, nearly all of it the fumble; two targets, two catches, six yards, one touchdown, +1.5 on the targets. The carries went five, seven, two, three, one and two. Three before halftime for 14 yards, three after for six. A three-yard run in the first quarter came back on a holding call against Christian Watson, and his other catch was no gain at the Green Bay four. After the fumble he has no carry and no target in the play-by-play; Chris Brooks took the three running back carries left in regulation and Kaleb Johnson both of them in overtime.
The split: Johnson eight carries for 32 yards, Lloyd six for 20, Brooks four for 11, 18 designed runs for 63 yards and −7.9 expected points as a group, with Josh Jacobs still on the Commissioner's Exempt list, per Sports Illustrated.
Back in June the preview called Lloyd a watchlist: the 60-fourth running back off the board, a third-round talent with a two-year injury ledger and one question, availability, with the competition with Brooks behind Jacobs as the thing to watch. Week 1 put him at the top of the carry list, 13 to seven. Sunday he was second of three, behind a back who did not take an offensive snap a week ago, and the last thing he did was fumble. He has been available for both games, which is what the preview asked. The lead role the opener suggested lasted one week. Two games is a small sample of a three-man rotation. Green Bay is home to the Falcons on Thursday the 20-fourth.
