The full read
Puka Nacua was Matthew Stafford's first read all day against the Raiders: 8 catches on 10 targets for 68 yards and a touchdown, plus 2 carries for 10 yards, in a 35-21 win at Las Vegas. His targets were worth +5.1 expected points added (EPA), what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.
The catch that mattered most came with 10 seconds left in the first quarter, up 7-3: third and 5 at the Rams 25, he caught a short pass over the middle for 11 yards, +1.84 EPA and 5.2 points of win probability, the estimate of each side's chance to win. Later on that drive his 8-yard catch reached the Las Vegas 4. The touchdown came on the next drive: up 14-3 with 4:20 left in the half, second and 8 at the 11, a short throw to the left, and he was in, +2.55 EPA. On the opening scoring drive his 13- and 9-yard catches and a 7-yard run took the Rams from the Las Vegas 27 to the 3.
Per target it was four times his season rate. Through Week 6, in his four games, he had 37 catches on 52 targets for 417 yards and a touchdown, at +0.13 EPA a target; here it was +0.51.
