Patriots 27, Bills 26, a minute 50 left, two-point try from the Buffalo two, one snap after Efton Chism's go-ahead touchdown. Drake Maye threw to Rhamondre Stevenson, and he caught it. 29 to 26. 10 and a half points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it, and the margin that meant Buffalo needed a field goal just to tie.

The line: 13 carries, 47 yards, one touchdown, four first downs, seven of the 13 successful, −0.2 expected points added on the carries — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. The touchdown was first and goal at the one with five 41 left in the half, one snap after Maye's 26-yard scramble, and put New England up 14 to seven. The carries went two, −1, eight, six, 10, one, six, two, eight, one, −1, five and nothing. Two came on third and one: six yards for a first down on the opening drive of the second half, and a loss of one late in the third, the worst figure on any of his plays at −2.2, followed by a punt. Five targets, three catches, 27 yards, the longest a 13-yarder on third and 17 that left New England four short.

The split: 33 New England rush plays, TreVeyon Henderson 14, Stevenson 13, Maye six.

Back in June the preview called Stevenson a quiet fade, with the touchdowns the part expected to fall away. Over the first three weeks he had 31 carries for a hundred 16 yards and no touchdowns. Sunday was his most carries since Week 1 and his first touchdown. Four games: 44 carries, a hundred 63 yards, one touchdown.
