Derrick Henry muffed it against the Browns: 17 carries, 58 yards, -8.9 expected points added (EPA) on the ground and a lost fumble. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. Only 29% of his carries were successful, gaining positive EPA.
The fumble turned the game. Up 10-3 with 12:45 left, first and 5 at the Baltimore 28, he ran left for 5 yards and fumbled, forced by Carson Schwesinger; Tyson Campbell recovered at the Baltimore 35. That was -5.0 EPA and -9.2 points of win probability, and Audric Estimé ran in the tying touchdown on the drive that followed.
The goal line cost him too. In the first quarter at 0-0, he got no gain on second and 1 from the Cleveland 1, then lost a yard on third and 1, -2.5 EPA; Tyler Huntley found Josh Cuevas for the touchdown on fourth down. His best run was 17 yards on second and 4 in the first quarter, +1.4 EPA.
It was his fewest rushing yards of the season. Through Week 5 he had 113 carries, 476 yards, 7 rushing touchdowns and -4.0 EPA, with a 44% success rate.
