Derrick Henry ran into more crowded fronts against the Jaguars than in his first eight weeks combined: 17 carries for 57 yards and no touchdown, with eight or more defenders in the box on 14 of them. Those 14 gained 50 yards, after 10 such carries for -2 yards through Week 8. He also threw a pass, a direct snap on second and 5 at the Jacksonville 34 in the first quarter, a short throw to Zay Flowers that lost 3 yards.
His biggest snap came down 10-3 in the second quarter. After a direct snap to Mark Andrews was stopped for no gain on third and 1 at the Baltimore 29, Henry took the fourth-down carry around right end for 4 and the first down: +1.9 expected points added (EPA), what a play was worth given down, distance and field position, and 7.1 points of win probability, the estimate of each side's chance to win, the largest swing of the game. The drive stalled at the 45.
The third quarter went the other way. Down 20-3, he was stopped for no gain on first and 10 and lost 2 on second and 9 later in the quarter. His 13 carries after motion gained 50 yards, after 100 for 421 through Week 8, when he had 158 designed carries for 632 yards.
