Bryce Young Camp Update — August 16: Three Drives, Three Punts, One Big Asterisk

Bryce Young 2026 Season Preview — what repeats, what doesn't
Young played all 16 games in 2025 and finished QB19 with 218 half-PPR points, averaging 13.6 per game. That floor was built on durability — he has been available 90.2 percent of the time across his career — rather than on efficiency spikes or touchdown volume, which makes availability the most repeatable piece of his profile.
Show notes & transcript
Bryce Young just took Carolina to its first playoff berth in eight years, and the market's response is quarterback 26, pick one-54 — a backup's slot in 12-team terms. Before you call that disrespect, hold on: the value at that slot last season was 13.4 points a game. Young produced 13-six. That's not disrespect; that's arithmetic.
The season, on quarterback scoring — the standard four-point-passing convention we use, identical to Half-PPR for quarterbacks: 16 games, 304 of 478 passing — 63.6 percent — for 3011 yards, 23 touchdowns against 11 picks, sacked just 27 times, +216 rushing yards and two scores on the ground. 13.6 points a game, 20-fifth among quarterbacks per game, nineteenth in total. He missed one game all season — a week-seven ankle cost him week eight and nothing else. Carolina won the NFC South at eight and nine — a division winner with a four seed — swept Atlanta along the way, and took the Rams to 34 to 31 in the wild card. The playoff drought it ended dated to 20-17.
The career reads as a rescue arc: nine-eight a game as the number-one pick on a bad rookie roster, 13-nine in the bounce-back, 13-six last year. The leap happened in year two and, more importantly, it held.
The pattern beat is short, because quarterbacks give our library little to grab. The rushing-floor rule — top-six seasons built on 25-percent-plus rushing production repeat at 61 percent — isn't his profile: 15 percent of his points came on the ground, a mobile passer's garnish, not a runner's floor. No fade fires either; there's no touchdown inflation in a 23-11 line and no pattern that punishes stability. The library's honest reading: this is what a repeatable quarterback season looks like, at a price that assumes exactly that.
The situation is continuity +1 bet on the future. Carolina exercised his fifth-year option April 20-ninth — 26 and a half million, fully guaranteed for 20-27, per the team site — while the June consensus says a long-term extension waits for one more season of proof. Dave Canales enters year three, now with Darrell Bevell added as associate head coach, per the team's February staff announcement. The receiver room returns Tetairoa McMillan — 70 catches as a rookie and the offensive rookie of the year, per NFL.com — plus Jalen Coker, extended June eleventh at three years, 35 million, up to 41 with incentives, per AP and ESPN. The backfield lost its yardage leader: Rico Dowdle left for Pittsburgh in March. And Young spent OTAs breaking in a new center, Luke Fortner, while riding his receivers about drops, per the team site — a leadership note the beat read as ownership.
The price: QB26 at pick one-54, for last season's per-game QB25 and total QB19. Price and production are the same number wearing different hats — and the nineteenth-best total at the position puts him comfortably inside the streaming pool either way. Our verdict: no call. The market did the math on the NFC South's quietest franchise quarterback, and we can't improve on it. The caveat, spoken: in 12-team leagues a QB26 price means undrafted in half of them — and a two-year floor of 13-plus with a rookie-of-the-year target and a stable system is exactly the profile that outruns a late price when anything breaks right.
Watch the sack count behind the new center — 27 sacks was the quietest input to his whole line — and McMillan's target share in year two. If the protection holds, the floor holds; the price never asked for more. If he's one of your guys, this show exists for your whole roster — every player, every week, all season.
