  Bo Nix just finished seventh among all quarterbacks in total fantasy points, quarterbacked the AFC's number-one seed, and goes off draft boards sixteenth at his position. The discount was written by a surgeon in January.

  The season: all 17 games, 3931 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and 11 picks, +356 rushing yards and five scores on the ground. 17.9 points a game on quarterback scoring — Half-PPR and standard are the same thing for QBs — tenth per game, seventh in total. Denver went 14 three and earned the one seed. The completion rate sat at 63 percent on 612 attempts — a volume-plus-legs profile, 17 starts, no absences, two years running. Then, in overtime of the divisional win over Buffalo, an ankle that had been managed as a stress fracture broke, per the team site — season-ending surgery, Jarrett Stidham starting the conference title game, and a cleanup procedure in April, per A to Z Sports.

  Two years into the career, the line is remarkably level: 18-six as a rookie, 17-nine in year two, 17 games both times. Whatever else the ankle took, it hasn't yet taken a game of the regular-season record.

  What repeats? His rushing production is about a fifth of his scoring — below the 25-percent line where our rushing-floor pattern turns protective. That pattern says top-six rushing quarterbacks repeat top-six at 61 percent versus 24 for pocket passers — but Nix wasn't top-six, so it neither protects nor convicts; it just tells you his profile lives on volume and team context, not a cheat code. Two 17-game seasons at 17-plus points is the argument; there is no validated pattern that fades it.

  The situation is a checklist of things the data can't price. The ankle: Payton kept him out of team drills through OTAs, brought him back for individual work and then limited seven-on-sevens at June minicamp, per Mike Klis at KUSA, and said he expects a full go for training camp. The weapons: Denver sent first-round draft capital to Miami for Jaylen Waddle in March, per NFL.com, and Courtland Sutton stays. The price was real — picks 30, 94, and a hundred 30, per Mile High Report — for a receiver under contract three more years.

  So the price. QB16 at pick one-oh-four is a two-to-three-tier discount on a QB7 total-points season, and every reason for it is an unknown: the ankle, the new voice on the headset. QB16 assumes a fringe starter; both his finished seasons say top-10. Our verdict: watchlist. We don't underwrite ankles, and we won't fade a two-year record this stable either — that's the honest middle of this one. Spoken caveat both directions: if camp opens with Nix taking every rep, this discount is gone by mid-August and you'll wish you'd moved first; if the ankle lingers into the season, QB16 was no gift.

  Watch whether he's a full participant when camp opens, and the designed-run rate in September — the ground scoring is the swing vote in his fantasy profile.   Bo Nix finished 2025 as the number 7 quarterback in total fantasy points but only the number 10 quarterback in points per game. That gap tells the story: a volume-and-availability year on a 14-and-3 team that won with defense and the run. Nix played all 17 games behind the best pass protection in football, steering an offense that won in the trenches, not through the air. He cleared 3,900 passing yards, added 356 on the ground with 5 rushing touchdowns, and tied for ninth in the league with 25 passing scores. The fantasy points showed up because the snaps showed up — not because Nix was carving defenses apart.

  Now let's dig into the numbers, because they sharpen the picture. Nix completed 63.4 percent of his passes against an expected rate of 65.5 — a completion percentage over expected of minus 2.1, ranked 28th among qualified passers. His adjusted net yards per attempt was 6.0, 21st in the league. On a per-dropback basis, this was a below-average passing year by the advanced metrics, even with healthy counting stats. The rushing is what dragged him into the top 10 per game. And the weekly profile was steady, not spiky: he cleared double-digit fantasy points in 15 of 17 games, dipping below six only in Week 1 against the Titans and Week 10 against the Raiders. Ceiling games were rare — just three outings above 25 points, headlined by a 40-burger against the Giants in Week 7. Floor over ceiling, week after week.

  The play that captures the season came in Week 5 in Philadelphia. Second quarter, 46 seconds left in the half, fourth-and-2 from the Eagles' 52, Broncos down 10 to nothing. Nix took the shotgun snap and went deep left to Courtland Sutton — 34 yards in the air, 52 yards for the touchdown. One snap swung expected points by more than six and a half. That's the season in a single play: not a quarterback shredding defenses for four quarters, but one who delivered the big throw when his team needed it, leaning on Sutton and the structure around him.
