YPRR (yards per route run)

YPRR divides a receiver's yards by the number of routes he ran, rather than by his targets. Muffed does not publish it, because routes run is charted data we cannot recompute; the closest number we can verify is yards per pass snap, where Jaxon Smith-Njigba of the Seahawks led 2025 at 3.70.

A route is counted every time a receiver runs one on a dropback, whether or not the ball comes his way. Yards divided by routes measures production against opportunity rather than against targets, which is why it is the efficiency stat most analysts reach for.

Why it matters

YPRR is a genuinely better rate than yards per target, and the reason it is missing here is worth stating: routes run is hand-charted, sold by a small number of providers, and cannot be derived from the open play-by-play data every other number on this site is built from. Publishing a figure we cannot regenerate would break the one rule the whole site runs on. What we can verify is pass snaps — dropbacks a player was on the field for — which is a slightly larger denominator because it includes blocking. Among 356 qualifying players, Jaxon Smith-Njigba led at 3.70 yards per pass snap on 485 of them.

The counter

Yards per pass snap is not YPRR, and it reads low for backs and tight ends who block.
