Stat Stickiness Rankings
Stat Stickiness — 2016-2025 NFL rankings, updated Aug 1, 2026. Average depth of target is the most repeatable stat measured, correlating 0.90 from one season to the next across 20 qualifying metrics. Computed from nflverse weekly player data, regular season only, over consecutive-season pairs in which both seasons clear the volume floor.
Stickiness is how strongly a player's number in one season predicts his number in the next, measured as a correlation across every consecutive pair of qualifying seasons from 2016 to 2025. It sorts the stats worth projecting from the ones that are mostly noise. Usage sits at the top — how deep a player is targeted, and how much of his offense he commands, are close to fixed traits. Touchdowns sit at the bottom, which is why a career year in the end zone is the least safe thing to pay for.
